One of my core values is the love and care of animals – and being a vet was my only career choice! After graduation from the University of Queensland and early GP work, I finished a residency in feline medicine (University of Liverpool), concurrently with the RCVS Cert in Small Animal Medicine and the ANZCVS Membership in Medicine of Cats.
Big passions for clinical teaching, undergraduate education & all aspects of small animal medicine followed. I held various clinical teaching roles and completed the Grad Cert in Clinical Education while working at the University of Queensland Vet Teaching Hospital.
A sea change and career break lead to a return to private practice and an exciting new opportunity in the post-graduate veterinary education space, working with the Improve International Group.
In late 2018 Animal Emergency Australia created the education arm, Veterinary Education and Training Pty Ltd (VE&T) to carry the Improve Veterinary Education licence.
I am now VE&T Director of Operations and have seen our small but mighty VE&T Team grow our skills and passion in the veterinary education space.
My goal is that education should be meaningful, practical and give opportunity for career engagement, professional growth AND better care for our patients!
Originally from Christchurch, I’ve been on the Sunshine Coast with my family for more than 10 years. My husband and I have two fabulous daughters, but we are mostly ruled by our two cats and a dog.
As your program manager I’m here to help you make the most of your program, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any questions or issues, no matter how big or small, before and after you join your program! I manage and support our Moodle and online learning network, with a focus on our flagship veterinary programs in Medicine, Emergency & Critical Care and Surgery, plus all things Nursing, Vet Tech and more.
I also help support our speakers, admin and marketing teams; reply to lots of emails, shuffle lots of paperwork and anything else I can turn my hand to!
I’ve worked in education for more than 20 years, across many different roles and industries, and what I love about Improve is the passion the team has for educating and empowering the veterinary community.
I joined the Improve Veterinary Education team in 2024, and since coming on board, I’ve been inspired by the passion that veterinary professionals have for this industry.
I graduated with Bachelor of Business (Marketing) and Bachelor of Sports and Exercise Science in 2009, and have over a decades’ experience in marketing (specifically in healthcare). My career has taken me around Australia and overseas, and I love that marketing gives me the opportunity to think strategically while also being creative.
I manage all marketing campaigns for Improve, and work closely with leadership to ensure that marketing communications and initiatives are integrated, effective, results driven and on brand. My love of animals and deep appreciation for the power of education make this role a great fit for me, and I love being part of this close-knit team.
I live on the Sunshine Coast with my husband and two young children (who keep me very busy). When I do *finally* get a minute to myself, I love hiking, being in the ocean, drawing and exploring the outdoors. PS. I’m a dog person.
I am delighted to be your Business Administration Coordinator. Working with Improve Veterinary Education has allowed me to combine my passions of health science, education and animals. I have been enthusiastic about healthcare my whole life, completing a degree in Health Science in 2006. My career has been primarily focussed on education and I have more than 20 years’ experience in delivering a high quality educational experience to health care professionals around the world.
As the owner of four beautiful dogs, I have personally experienced the importance of high-quality veterinary care and am very passionate about contributing to this mission. My role is to ensure the smooth running of administration of our business behind the scenes with a particular focus on financial management. I am available to discuss your finance options in relation to any of our courses. When I’m not working on veterinary education you will find me competing, training and instructing dog agility with my Shelties, Astro, Aura and Bliss.
