Introduction to Echocardiography

This fast-track weekend course gives the hands-on skills you need to perform basic echocardiography and cardiac ultrasound.

Do you have some ultrasound skills but are not confident with anything ‘above the diaphragm?’ Would you like to be able to assess that newly diagnosed murmur? This course covers both ultrasound theory and practical sessions of the basic cardiac ultrasound & includes:

  • Optimal machine settings and patient preparation
  • M-Mode and B-Mode two dimensional examinations
  • Doppler – what it means and how to use it in practice
  • How to obtain useful echocardiographic measures for decision making
  • How to diagnose the common acquired valvular diseases in the dog
  • Useful measures in valve disease that can help with decision making on the ‘murmur’ dog
  • Useful measures in the myocardium for disease

This Fast-Track weekend is aimed at building skills – with the morning sessions spent on theory and afternoon sessions on practical scanning.

Develop hands on skills to
perform basic echocardiography
and cardiac ultrasound
