GPCert SAS

The GPCert (SAS) is a post-graduate qualification awarded by the independent awarding institution, International School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies (ISVPS).

The GPCert (SAS) qualification has been validated by Harper Adams University (HAU) United Kingdom and is recognised globally.

* Candidates for the GPCert(SAS) are required to be delegates of the accredited Improve International Australia Small Animal Surgery program as a prerequisite of registration with the ISVPS.

ISVPS requirements

Candidates sitting examination in 2023*

To achieve the GPCert(SAS) in 2023, candidates must complete and pass the following:

  • Register with the ISVPS by 23 June 2022, and pay the applicable fees direct to ISVPS
  • Complete the two-year ISVPS-accredited modular training program
  • 1 x 2250-2500 word case report – 29th June 2023
  • Case diary and reflective essay (PgC only) – 13th July 2023
  • Sit a 100 question examination (multiple choice) – Oct 2023 (TBC)
  • Sit a case-based scenario (CBS) examination – Oct 2023 (TBC)
  • Sit an Online Applied Knowledge examination (OAKE) – Oct 2023 (TBC)

 

Candidates sitting examination in 2022*

In 2022, ISVPS have replaced the 10 x 500-1,000 word case studies with a fully online examination comprising case-based scenario and ‘spot test’ questions, allowing candidates to apply their learning in a more practically relevant manner.

To achieve the GPCert(SAS) in 2022, candidates must complete and pass the following:

  • Register with the ISVPS by 24 June 2021, and pay the applicable fees direct to ISVPS
  • Complete the two-year ISVPS-accredited modular training program
  • Complete the pre- and post-module questions
  • Submit to ISVPS 1 x 2,250-2,500 word case report—due 30th June 2022 (TBC)
  • Sit the online examination (100 multiple-choice questions)—14th October 2022 (TBC)
  • Sit the online examination (case-based scenario & ‘spot test’)—14th October 2022 (TBC)  

 

Candidates must study all areas of the course syllabus and successfully complete the ISVPS requirements. In some cases, not all of the course syllabus is covered in the taught program and additional study will be required.
