Cardiology DL 2021 - Optional Modules

At the end of your Cardiology DL Distance Learning Program, there is an opportunity to attend three optional attendance practical modules. Currently these will take place in Swindon (UK). 

For those wanting to book the Cardiology DL Program Optional Practical Sessions, these modules will be available at an exclusive price. They will available for booking by the UK Office of Improve International Ltd and numbers are strictly limited. Please see full details from the Improve International Ltd UK 

Entry Requirements

Initial registration for the optional practical sessions modules is on a first come, first served basis. Delegates who are enrolled in the Cardiology DL Program will be given first preference until 1/12/2021 , and the sessions will then be opened to external registrations . Any bookings made after this date will be subject to review and acceptance. Improve International Ltd has the right to refuse a booking if it does not meet the entry requirements state above. Would you like to attend these modules in the USA or Australia?

The optional hands-on modules are currently only scheduled to take place in Improve International Ltd Swindon’s facilities (UK). If a minimum number of participants can be obtained, these practical sessions may be offered  in California, USA or Brisbane, Australia.

Optional Modules

ECG and Thoracic Radiography | 17 Oct 2022 | Swindon UK

Module Speaker:

Kieran Borgeat (BSc BVSc MVetMed CertVC DipACVIM DipECVIM-CA MRCVS

Key learning objectives:

  • Perfect the analysis of electrocardiograms
  • Recognize tachyarrhythmias, bradyarrhythmias and when to consider antiarrhythmic treatment
  • Practice a systematic approach to the interpretation of thoracic radiographs
  • Improve your ability to recognize radiographic signs of congestive heart failure and stage mitral valve disease
  • Review some angiograms to test anatomic understanding of radiographs

Practical activities:

  • Revise your approach to the ECG and be able to accurately interpret common abnormalities
  • Review and discuss a range of abnormalities on radiographic imaging

Echocardiography I | 18 Oct 2022 | Swindon UK

Module Speaker:

  • Develop your understanding of echocardiographic imaging and basic machine settings
  • Familiarise yourself with M-mode, how to interpret what you see and what it can tell you about your patient
  • Review B-mode and the different images used to assess cardiac function at different levels of the heart
  • Explore 3D acquisitions and how they can advance your skills in echocardiography

Practical Scanning

Revise your knowledge of ultrasound machine functionality: buttons and probes

Improve your ability to obtain clear echocardiographic views
